Water treatment with 100% renewable energy
The Renvastill™ solar water purification system
Renvasun is developing Renvastill™, a system for water purification that uses on-site renewable energy only. A prototype of the system is planned to be tested in Australia. The first system is expected to be operational in the course of 2008. The Renvastill system is based on an active principle, which is expected to increase its distillation capacity by more than 20 times, in comparison to conventional solar stills.
Renvastill is a cost-efficient and flexible alternative for water purification in warm countries. It can be used both for communal water treatment plants and for stand-alone purposes in remote locations. The Renvastill system can be used at latitudes in between approximately 40°N and 40°S. In western Europe, it can be used up to 44°N; with additional wind turbines up to 46°N.
